The ABCs of efficient charging to optimize your summer trips

When it comes to road trips, every minute saved is another minute you can use to enjoy the ride! When travelling by EV, how can you spend more time enjoying summer and less time charging your vehicle? Read on to learn about our best tips for optimizing charging sessions and saving precious time.

Autocharge: Simply plug in and charge!

Introduced in summer 2025, the Autocharge feature helps you save time and simplify your experience. Once it’s set up, you can start charging your EV simply by plugging your vehicle into a fast-charge station.

Before setting off on your trip, check your vehicle’s compatibility and initiate the Autocharge configuration in your mobile app. You’ll be able to complete it the next time you charge your vehicle at a compatible fast-charge station.

Trip 💡

To save even more time, make sure you have enough money in your account before leaving. You can activate automatic payments in your account via the mobile app.

Destination charging

Most recent EVs have significant range and can travel longer distances before needing to be charged! If you do need to make a stop, fast-charge stations are available across Québec, but do not underestimate destination charging!

When you stop at a fast-charge station, only charge as much as you need to get to your next stop. Charging more than 70% or 80% at a fast-charge station is often pointless and, beyond that level, the vehicle may reduce the charging speed to protect its battery.

Once you arrive at your destination, or during a prolonged stop, find a Level-2 charging station where you can leave your vehicle plugged in for a longer period and then use that time to visit an attraction or get a good night’s sleep! No more pointless waiting!!

Interactive map

Planning your trip and where you’ll stop to charge your EV helps you determine the required charging time and budget and can even help you choose the best route! Enter your destination and your vehicle’s data under the “Trip” tab of the mobile app to view the charging stations located on your route and plan the necessary stops.

Tip 💡

We may be familiar with certain rest stops where charging stations are located . . . but that means a lot of other people know about them, too! Charging stations located in well-known places are often more in demand during busier periods. Use the interactive map to see other available charging stations nearby. There are often more than you might think!
